Important Up-date on Biometric (BRIT) Passports.

As you are all by now aware, the British Consulate-General, Jeddah will be issuing Biometric passports from 25 th March 2006.  (See newsletter 04-06). 

Due to the change in equipment the 'cut off' date for accepting applications for the current Machine Readable passports will be Monday 13 th March 2006.  After this date, all applications will be for Biometric passports only.  You will need to allow at least 10 days for the issue of Biometric passports.

At present, only standard 32 page Biometric passports will be available. We have been advised that 48 page passports should be arriving towards the end of this year.

The new Biometric 32 page passport fee for an adult (over 16) will be SR 610 valid for 10 years and the fee for children (under 16) will be SR 410 valid for 5 years.
