Warden Notice 04/05 (01 August 2005)

The death of King Fahd, Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, has been announced. He will be buried after Asr prayer tomorrow, Tuesday.

There will be three days of mourning. This period could be extended and might also result in the closure of Saudi Government offices. British nationals should be sensitive to local customs and traditions during this time and refrain from public activities and private entertainment which could be seen as disrespectful.

The Embassy will continue to monitor the situation and will pass on any further relevant information.
