Warden Notice 03/04
(13 February 2004)
The Foreign and Commonwealth Office
(FCO) up-dated the Travel Advice for Saudi Arabia on 13 April. The
detailed advice is available at www.fco.gov.uk/travel
or on the Embassy's new website www.britishembassy.gov.uk/saudiarabia
via the short cut menu.
We believe that there is a continuing high threat
of terrorism in Saudi Arabia and that terrorists remain determined
to carry out further attacks in Saudi Arabia. These may be in the
final stages of preparation. The threat includes, but is not limited
to, residential compounds and diplomatic and other official premises.
The Embassy and Consulate-General remain in close touch with the
Saudi authorities, who have enhanced security measures. You will
be aware that some suspected terrorists have been arrested and others
killed in exchanges of fire with the Saudi authorities.
People who choose to travel to, or remain in, Saudi Arabia should
maintain the highest level of vigilance. You should take all necessary
steps to protect your safety and ensure you have confidence in your
individual security arrangements.
If we receive further information which affects
the security of the community or the advice contained in this Notice,
we shall tell you immediately.

William John Neil
HM Consul
