Warden Notice 01/04
(12 February 2004)
British Airways has cancelled its flight BA 263 of
16 February from Heathrow Airport to King Khalid International Airport,
Riyadh for security reasons. The reciprocal flight, BA 262 on 17
February, is not affected. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO)
is amending its Travel Advice for Saudi Arabia to reflect this.
Following terrorist attacks in Riyadh in May and November 2003,
we continue to believe that terrorists remain determined to carry
out further attacks in Saudi Arabia. We continue to advise against
all but essential travel to the Kingdom. British nationals in Saudi
Arabia should continue to maintain a high level of vigilance. They
should take all necessary steps to protect their safety and ensure
they have confidence in their individual security arrangements.
The detailed advice is available at www.fco.gov.uk/travel
and at the Embassy's new website www.britishembassy.gov.uk/saudiarabia
via the short cut menu.
The latest information about British Airways' flights
is available on their website www.ba.com
and by telephone from their local offices in Riyadh (01) 464 -5550
and Jeddah (02) 663 - 7777.
